STANDARDS BASED GRADING
Art classes are very differentiated classrooms. We have many students with different skill levels and different needs. Standards based grading helps students and teachers to work together siting specific needs in curriculum and studio habits. The website connected below explains standards based grading pretty well, but let us know if you have questions or concerns.
NEWPORT HIGH SCHOOL RUBRIC
We put it all together in the attached document. Below the main grading categories are the sited core standards, and habits from the studio thinking model. The grading labeled across the top is standards based grading- see conversions below the rubric. Artists are asked to write about their experience, along with providing process picture of their work to connect evidence.
